Inserts fail on Oracle: could not create FEATURE out of provided feature

Description

Inserts fail with an Oracle datasource. GeoServer cannot create a correct feature. The first lines of the serviceexception are:

<wfs:Message>org.vfny.geoserver.responses.wfs.WfsTransactionException: Could not create TEST_BOUNDARY out of provided feature: feature-26759037
at org.vfny.geoserver.responses.wfs.TransactionResponse.execute(TransactionResponse.java:283)
at org.vfny.geoserver.responses.wfs.TransactionResponse.execute(TransactionResponse.java:283)
...

The feature seems to be parsed correctly, but somehow it is not created correctly.

Please see the file stdout_inserts_oracle.log that is uploaded in JIRA for more details. The reqeust, response and the (relevant) part of the stdout.log is stated there.

<p>I think this error is caused by the problem with FID parsing when inserting. I won't able to investigate this further until this bug is fixed.</p>

<p>hrmm I can't seem to download the log file either. I get the following error:</p>

<p>Fatal error in <a href="file:/www/orion/applications/atlassian-jira-2.5.1/atlassian-jira-web/secure/attachment" class="external-link" rel="nofollow">file:/www/orion/applications/atlassian-jira-2.5.1/atlassian-jira-web/secure/attachment</a> at line 1: Document root element is missing.</p>

<p>Can you try adding it again, or just send it to me?</p>

<p>Thanks</p>

The problem itself is fixed. What caused the failure for inserts, was

problem <a href="https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-40" title="Strings handled as numbers on inserts" class="issue-link" data-issue-key="GEOS-40"><del>GEOS-40</del></a>, with the string handling. So this issue can be closed.</p>
