Hey Justin - you asked for a Jira about the download link ...
I think we could link directly to this page; and we could update the project description to mention the maven repository. The listing of the files is a bit strange; it may be nice to group the files according to Stable, Preview, and Archive rather than the single group we have now of "GeoTools 2 Releases".

First of all some great news - Source Forge has improved the file management story. I have used the new facilities to organize our releases .... wait for it .... by release:
Specifically there is a folder for:
GeoTools 2.5 Releases
GeoTools 2.6 Preview (we can move this folder to "OldFiles" which is hidden when we start making a 2.6.0 release)
And as a bonus each release has an RSS feed which we should be able to slurp up much like a we do for news.
This gives us two options:
short term: link directly to <a href="https://sourceforge.net/projects/geotools/files/">https://sourceforge.net/projects/geotools/files/</a>
long term: use the RSS feed to present a nice download link as part of our sphinx generated website
