The renderer currently only supports SLD styling for lines and polygons, this needs to be extended to fully suport points.
I know points can be rendered but the process needs to be transparent to the user so that they do not have to use different code when working with points vs polygon/line dataseta.

Will requires a revisiting of renderer design. The split between RenderedGeometries and RenderedMarks need to be removed. One possible path is to extends MarkIterator to supports geometries as well as marks.
The redesign most be as close as possible to GO-1 spirit. Since the renderer rely heavily on a special geometry implementation (for supporting "on the fly" clipping, decimation and transformation), the renderer geometries should be revisited as well in the light of GeoAPI interfaces.
This is a somewhat major refactoring. It will depends on Coordinate Systems refactoring as well. Work scheduled for 2004.

Whilst a more elegent solution may be possible in the future by redesigning the rendering architecture I need a solution soon so I going to find a workaound for the short term.

Last changes solves this issue by using specialized classes instead of RenderedMarks. SLD compliance is on par with lite renderer
