J2D renderer is not very Geotools-aware (except for CRS and GridCoverage). It needs to make use of Feature and Styling. It must also expose its API through interfaces, in order to allow replacement of a renderer implementation by an other one (the co-existence between J2D-renderer and lite-renderer shows that a single implementation doesn't fit all).
We should try to implement GO-1 interfaces from GeoAPI (http://geoapi.sourceforge.net - http://geoapi.sourceforge.net). If we meet any issue, we should provides feedback to GeoAPI. Polexis has been sucessful in writing GO-1 wrappers for commercial products, so there is good chances that GO-1 will work for us.

Right, visibility specified in MapLayer should be honnored. Will revisit as part of the port of J2D renderer to the GO-1 API.

Mass closing all go-1 related issues as the module does not exist anymore
