Java 8 while an LTS release is really starting to be passed over by the dependencies we are using. We should consider dropping Java 8 support for GeoServer and continue to support the Java 11 LTS and Java 17 LTS.

FYI, while https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/wiki/GSIP-215 mentions Jakarta migration as a reason for dropping Java 8 support, GeoServer will actually have to move to Java 17 minimum in order to complete the Jakarta migration because of its dependence on Spring Framework 6 (Spring Framework 6.0 goes RC1) and Wicket 10 (Migration to Wicket 10.0 - Apache Wicket - Apache Software Foundation).
