OGC Compliance

Description

GeoServer was an OGC reference implementation. OGC requires that every year the reference implementation passes the test to maintain its status of reference implementation.

We had GeoServer as reference implementations for:

WCS 1.1.1
WFS 1.0.0
WFS 1.0.0
WFS 1.1.0
WMS 1.1.1
WMS 1.3.0

And possibly, GeoServer would like to be a reference implementation for:
WFS 2.0

We want GeoServer to be officially appearing in the OGC implementation portal as reference implementation [1]. This will require for GeoServer to pass all the tests.

Once the GeoServer passes the tests I can coordinate with OSGeo to get the information (e.g. version) on the OGC implementation portal [2] and get GeoSerbver officially certified. Since it is a reference implementation it is no necessary to pay any fees.

Also, in the interim I recommend that in the GeoServer page [3], the compliance logo should be removed and the wording should be changed to: "GeoServer is an OGC implementation ..."

Thank you all for your help!

Hi Luis, unfortunately I did not manage to get anyone interested enough to put on the table funds or personal time. I gave up trying to upgrade the CITE tests a few months ago.

The rumors say that a lot of work was advanced in August. Do we have an idea about when will the CITE related fixes will be available? If it helps, we can host a GeoServer reference implementation at the OGC servers. Thank you!

Ok, give me some time to get a stable passing the current cite tests, and see how many instances are needed to actually get it done (there are some cite tests breaking if one hosts newer versions of the services, I have to check how can I deal with that and if it's required to have one separate GeoServer instance per test, or we can go and use a single one for all of them)

Andrea, we can think about hosting a GeoServer installation that passes the tests in an OGC server. If you have instructions about how to proceed (installing required test data, etc.) we can give it a try.
